Triggering Muskies with GLIDERS! | Musky Quick-Tips on Fishing Glide Baits for Muskies | S7.E12

When it comes to triggering reaction strikes from muskies there is possibly no better lure than a glider! Glide baits have a way of pulling fish off of structure and getting them to open their mouths, particularly in tough environmental conditions - but many anglers struggle with throwing and working them correctly. In this video I will show you how I work the GlideRaider, and this technique ca...

A cooler than normal early-summer period can have muskie anglers scratching their heads and searching in all directions for hot bite but the answer to finding a "tight line" might surprise you! When water temperatures are cold for muskies (60's) I have found that a larger percentage of adult muskies take up residence in thick, slop, weed cover. So now we have the location figured out but.....wh...

When it comes to muskie fishing there is one rule: THERE ARE NO RULES! And yes, that is really a true statement. Bite windows can take place at some very unpredictable times, outside of moon phases and even significant weather changes…. So being on the water at all times is really important to consistently boat these elusive fish. In this episode my good friend Mike Richardson and I continue to...
How Does a Musky Spot Get Its Name??? “LOVER’S HUMP!!!” S7.E09

People often wonder how a great muskie spot gets its name. And the answer is….well….it really all depends on the first super-memorable experience on that spot. Many times a spot gets named after a huge musky is caught on it but really, there is no end to the possibilities! Sometimes a spot gets named after a crazy battle or some sort of oddity that happened during the fight but many times a spo...

CRAZY EARLY SUMMER MUSKY on TOPWATER! S7.E07

As summer begins to take hold the classic dog day weather patterns often begin. With regard to the water temperatures this can be a very good thing early in the season but for muskie activity, it can make the feeding windows almost nonexistent! Under these conditions I recommend ensuring you have lots of sunscreen on and stay focused on the mission: the sunset bite. The slack calm barn burners ...

As a thunderstorm approached I fished excitedly as I imagined that anything I threw at the muskies would likely be destroyed! I cast my 500 Buchertail tinsel and burned it in quickly to cover as much water as possible but, as I worked an area where I had raised one earlier, I was met with only a lazy follow. With the dropping barometric pressure I was surprised that I had not had the classic "s...

Early-season muskie fishing can have many anglers scratching their heads and heading into the pub ahead of schedule to discuss the answer to the age-old question, "where in the heck are these muskies???" In my area of Eagle River, WI muskies are the apex predator on most of the waters we fish. And for good reason! Great intro to glide bait fishing! Especially loved the downward vs. parallel rod sweeps nugget - as I've seen MANY anglers struggle with lure depth around timber & higher weed patches. Also, pointing out that you're using a shorter rod for this presentation is important. I have actually had boat guests trying to use a 9' 6" rod with a 6" Phantom - yikes! For newer anglers, just be aware of the gear ratio you're using, as one-revolution-per-pop isn't the same with a 5.3:1 reel as an 8:1 reel. Know your gear and adjust accordingly. Learn to master the action on each type of bait you're using and the gear (rod length/action, reel size/gear-ratio, terminal tackle, etc.) that brings out the best action and LET 'ER RIP, TATER CHIP! Thanks again for another masterful video & tight lines to all!

    Thanks for the video clip here, Chas. One thing I'll say in response to your second tip in the video is that some guys believe that the best time to experiment on new spots is during moon phases. The argument for this is that the moon phase (in theory) will help you see and catch fish on spots you're not familiar with, providing you the proof and data you need about muskies on those locations. A lot of guys won't do this, though, since they want to be on their "best spots" during moon phases - the spots they're already familiar with. I mix it up and do both - I'll revisit good spots on moon phase, but I'll also devote time to unknown or unproven locations on moon phase in the pursuit of potential large fish.

    • @MuskyMastery
      @MuskyMastery 10 днів тому

      I agree with you on that - the best time to test NEW spots is really under prime conditions - multiple times - otherwise it is hard to know if they are any good. Tough to do when you are really needing to create content for UA-cam or to put a client on a fish... but I do (as you do) push myself to test new lakes and new spots often. Sometimes its hard :)

    I'm just curious if you cast with the rod in your right hand and figure 8 with your right as well is it awkward for you all to wind with your left? I never understood this concept. Please enlighten me.

    • @MuskyMastery
      @MuskyMastery Місяць тому

      I think it’s important to remember that casting and retrieving is a personal preference. If an angler is able to make the movements and correct lure placements using their preferred techniques, then they are doing it right. Take a look at pro golf swings. They are vastly different but they do things that allow the club face to make square contact with the ball. This is the enlightening moment you’re looking for. No, I do not prefer to crank with my left hand, unless I’m using a spinning reel. This video is created to assist the large amount of clients I have taught who cast righty but struggle with proper synchronization.
